Redesigning the Defense Information School’s flagship Public Affairs training program

The Project: Redesign the school’s Master’s level training program for Public Affairs and Communication Strategy, which included a 9-week onsite course and 26-week distance learning course for all of the DoD’s communicators.

The Learners: About 300 Officers and Senior Enlisted service members.

My Role: Lead curriculum design and development; Manage a team of 10; Coordinate faculty of subject matter experts; Report out to high-ranking leaders of US military.

Tools used: Blackboard, Google Classroom, Google Suite

Project in 5 words or less: Ultimate test of design knowledge.

This course was designed to bridge strategy and tactics for learners at every level, from novice to regular practitioner. It was a unique blend of training and education.

The scope of this project was the greatest challenge. It was a huge animal! …Really strained the sticky note budget.
